Conference on persons with intellecutal disabilities rights |

17.lipnja.2009. Centre for Human Rights in cooperation with the Association for the Self-Advocacy, Association for prmicanje inclusion and UNDP held a conference on implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with naglaksom to people with intellectual disabilities. The conference was held at the EU Information Center, spoke about the topic: Yuri Afanasiev (UNDP Resident Representative in Croatia), David Hudson (Deputy Head of the European Commission in Croatia), Tatiana Vucetic (Ministry of Justice) Vesna Mihanović (Ministry of Health and Social Care ), and self-advocates from the Association for the Self-Advocacy: Senad Halilčević, Gordon Cikač, John Kramar and Kristina Tekmetarović. Representatives of the Ministry of Family, Veterans' Affairs, and Ministry of Education and Sports, did not odazavali our call. The conference was very well visited with over 50 participants, but despite poor media coverage. The conference was geared towards the practical implementation of the Convention, especially the issues of equality before the law, and lived an independent life in the community, respect for home and family and education of persons with intellectual disabilities in Croatia.
